A Little This

Snow in Nevada, from Jennifer's window.   Looks like the bird house is an Ice House.

One more starting, two more to go, and we all know where we want this particular shooter to go.

How often have you tried getting a door to open  when you pushed instead of pulled or pulled instead of pushed?

Remember when Angie saw this pictured on a fence and decided she would make some for her fence...well she  is doing a great Job,  Wonder if she is taking orders.

Look Ma, no hands!!!     A first attempt of flight....hope those little wings decided to work.  What a cutie.

The last day of January, 2014;   a long month for some in the mid country where the weather has stayed so horrible, icy, cold and miserable for so many folks.    Each of us has a blessing to count as it has been a strange winter.   I was over to Crescent City yesterday and was amazed at how many lavender trees are in bloom . . . not something you see in January.    Our predicted Thursday rain storm disappeared somewhere; went over or under us as we had sunshine and it was not sweater weather.    Walmart's huge store is big enough to get lost in.   I hung on to the basket and  skipped around the store like I was on ice skates.   I didn't miss many aisles and Marcia put out a call thinking I was lost but finally found me at the spot we agreed to meet at;  we just didn't make a time limit so I lolly-gagged around like I had no place to go and nothing to do.   She may not ask me out again, unless I start wearing my watch again.

For someone who was not going to blog for a long while;  or not blog every day, I seem to be a contradiction;  I just like visiting all of you;  what can I say . . . your stuck with a lady of words.   Speaking of words, I had a message on this machine a short while ago telling me there is some kind of a spam or an antivirus critical process activity on my PC and I had better clean my system....wish I knew how.   I sent out an SOS to my son and he'll fix it quickly...I did run the software though just in case it would work.   I hate spammers....I really do.    So I will love you and leave you to what I hope is a really lovely day.  Stay well, be kind, be generous and above all share all the hugs you can get today.   Hugs to all.

sightings

Up in Pistol River there is a shark trolling for something to eat;  wonder if it is all the earthquake activity we are having off of the coast that entices new 'fish' to our area.    I wouldn't want to meet up with this one.

You could have his job sweeping . . . not even a harness to protect him...wonder if he is just plain fearless.

The movie of the week.....Well someone has to keep him in line.

Here is our Jo looking beautiful and ready for a new day.

This idea was on Facebook not so long ago and looked like a good idea.   It is and it works great

The rain continues here on the coast and it is a bit colder.   Our earth is shaking as we had a five point earthquake yesterday which I didn't even feel.    It is an on going shake up with two plates vying for space out there in the ocean's depth.  We, daughter Pat and I, have a bag ready in case we have to leave the low land for the highland but it makes me wonder why we hear so much about getting prepared for a disaster when and if it does come you can't take any of the items with you.  Maybe there would still be something left after the quake did its thing, but maybe the tsunami wave would have washed it all away.   A conundrum for sure.    Well, there really is nothing one can do but take one second as it comes, and enjoy the day . If all goes as planned, Marcia will be here full of life, love and laughter and we will be exercising in the aisles of Walmart's super store over in Crescent City.  There is nothing like pushing a basket and  fast tracking up and down the aisles.    Maybe I'll find something made in America, one can only hope.    So get up, get out and exercise.    Put a smile on your face and a song in your heart and make today a self improvement day. . . oh my, who is that in the mirror??  Um. . . maybe you should start with a tooth brush, a hair brush and a smile....ah...there you are....bright eyed and full of vim and vigor . . . go,   enjoy today.   Hugs to all.

BRRRRRR!!!!!

"But officer, I didn't see any sign"

"Oh, that reminds me, the big game is coming up"

A waterfall in a glacier, how beautiful, how odd, a true wonder.

Makes you wonder if the driver is bragging a bit about his snow . . . He must have had a big shoveling job to do before getting out of his driveway.

No School today in many parts of the country.    After looking at all these pictures of winter weather, I am content to be on the coast in the rain.  Yes, a little rain, not a lot, but some and it is needed.   One good thing about snow is the cold that comes with it as it kills off germs so it does shorten the flu season . . . see there is a silver lining if you look for it.

So today, hump day, go out there and shovel if you must....   Look for the silver lining and when you find it make your seconds bright and beautiful, just like you . . . You find when you do make the 'best' of things' then your day becomes brighter and lighter, just the way you want it to be.     Don't forget one good deed begets another.  Hugs to all.

Dali and Alice

Salvador Dali illustrates Alice In Wonderland -1969.

There were twelve heliogravures depicting Alice In Wonderland . . . thought you might like to see a few.   An artist with imagination.    Color.    Whimsy.     A bit strange to the eye but fascinating.

Enjoy your Tuesday no matter what the weather.    If it is really cold outside then find yourself a little hidey hole and cuddle up with a good book.   If you can get out and about, go and visit a local museum and see what some of your artists have done.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you, with those smiling eyes, can see beauty in everything you look at.   Go, enjoy your seconds this day.  Hugs to all.

words to the wise

A Life Lesson!

Obama magic wand . . . Executive Privilege  come to mind.

um, sounds like a good idea . . . meet me at our Poncho's restaurant and I'll spring for one.

It's my Monday hello . . . hope your weekend was as special as you . . . get busy now for your new week and make a list of good deeds to perform....start and end with a walk-in hug and watch what follows.  Don't start with those Irish oats that run all over the stove when you are not looking . . . now you know what I am doing this morning.    Hugs to all

Foreign News

Above are clips from Foreign Newspapers regarding the USA

How the world sees us . . . and are not afraid to tell it as it is.

Now, if we think about the differences in news reporting, we might actually thank the folks at Fox  News for at least telling the tales as they happen.

It does make one wonder about Politics and the who and whys.    Nixon got thrown out of office for spying on the Democrats...remember Watergate.   Clinton got thrown out of office for having libido problems with Monica.    Obama is creating 'a change' in America which fifty percent do not agree with, yet nothing is 'changing' just deteriorating into chaos.    I wonder what the Foreign newscasters will show next.  Just thought you might like to see how we look to our friends in other lands.

Hope you remember that you have a vote and will use it.

So it is Sunday and the storms keep coming for most of the country.   Son John is shoveling another three inches of snow.   Mike has not said, but maybe Nevada isn't getting as much snow.  I hear the water problem is going to be something this year as the snow pack just isn't there.    Daughter Christine made it back from her New York business trip and said it was just to cold to sight see this time.  Erin leaves today to return to her aunt and finish up some more work before her take off date which we are waiting to hear about.    Pat had no news about the vertigo, but will have a new MRI in hopes of finding out the whys. Jock picked up his elk which he had to have 'dressed' in Medford and has promised a taste.  Wonder what elk tastes like.  I found out I like duck.  I may be converted yet.   So you are up to date on me and mine.    I couldn't resist bragging about the Foreign News Folks;  wish our ''paper-folks' had some backbone of courage and conviction rather than playing politics.    Meanwhile, you have a job to do;  light a candle for the military both over in Afghanistan and those wounded warriors here at home.

So, like an idle threat . . . "I'll be back."     Make sure you practice your smile in the mirror so you will have it shining from your eyes.     Check on those muscle exercises and make sure you do some squats so you develop good leg muscles when you want to go hug hunting. . . the word for today is 'share' . . . go and share YOU with those you love.  Hugs to all.

Good Morning

Yesterday  I showed you a hand made of ice;  today it is a hand made from the limb of a tree.   It just goes to show you that if you stop, look and listen, you will find something to make you smile . . . something to make you glad to be alive in a world filled with magic.  All you have to do is look for it.   Yep, it is there for the taking.  Just stop today and look around and see what you can find to make you smile. . . then share your smile with those you love, grin at those you like and smirk a bit if you see someone who is topping your list....you know which one.

Saturday all day, enjoy every second of it.  Hugs to all.

HELLO AGAIN

Walter Sullivan lives in Newport, Rhode Island where the lobsters are , shall we say, sizable . . .  I want some of that!!!d  Walter and my son Michael look so alike;  you can tell a Sullivan every time.

Friend Angie with her two little companions . . . she just loves them and I think the feeling is mutual.

One of my 'adopted daughters', Judy of Colorado, became a grandmother yesterday and the e-mail and picture came in .  What a beautiful family.  What a beauty is the new son, Joseph John.   Congratulations all.

And last but not least, Winter is in our country, not here on our coast , but back east where the storm has been playing havoc all week.   That is some icicle.    A hand.....and it looks ominous.   Well, winter is . . . daughter, Christine is in New York on business and said there was twelve inches of snow, much to cold to go sightseeing and getting from the hotel to the business meeting in her new boots was enough.   She is due home today and I bet she is smiling all the way.

I've miss all of you.  I've missed blogging every day.   I know, a few of you have been betting I wouldn't last long and one or two have suggested a weekly or a monthly note so here is the first one.   I am enjoying my sabbatical in a way, but not talking to you every day is hard as I miss telling you all my tales.   So tune in and check up on me as I'll surprise you with some updates and remember, old habits die hard ,    . . . smile . . . I hope you are all well and happy and busy.     Remember you have to spread good words and deeds to overshadow all the ugly stuff that is on going;  set the example;   stand up and be counted for and do it with a smile and a hug for those you meet.    It may be the redeeming act of the day that will send someone a small message of being loved.
TGIF. . . GO, enjoy your weekend.   Hugs to all.
