Thomas Sowell, eighty-three years of age, born in North Carolina; a Social Theorist and Political Philosopher. He grew up in Harlem, was a high school drop out , joined the Marine Corps during the Korean war, returned and got a BS at Harvard in 1958; a MST at Columbia in 1959 and his Doctorate in 1968 in Economics from the University of Chicago.
A man of words. I wonder if anyone listens.
So it is Monday, the start of a new week for each and every one of us. We have been promised summer weather and at three thirty this morning, the usual up and get your first exercise of the coming day, there were lightening strikes in the sky. I never did hear any thunder. No one said anything about rain, just heat so maybe it was just heat lightening.
Having a granddaughter around is pretty special. She helped make up a special dish using eggplant baked in a fresh tomato salsa with mozzarella cheese topping . . . yum . . . we surprised her with an early birthday cake just because she wont be around here in November. She got a big kick out of it. We watched "Out of Africa" with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford; a classic. A lovely way to spend a Sunday; hope you were lucky to spend a Sunday with those you love.
This week starts today, Monday, all day, so check your attitude, change it if you have to and decide right now that you are going to have one of the very best weeks of your life. Write down your priorities and get busy checking them off one at a time. What a boon to the ego when you finish up all you intend to do and have done it to the best of your abilities. Pride . . . something you should feel every day when you take on any and all jobs that are necessary to make life 'good' . . . 'better' and 'best' . . . works well with a big smile and maybe a reward of a hug or two. Hugs to all.
