Here they are forever friends.
So as you work up towards Valentine Day, come Friday, think of your forever friends and drop a valentine at their doorstep. Remember when you were small and you had a chance to run all over the neighborhood with a handful of valentines to slide under a door. Remember the big cardboard box all decorated with hearts and flowers sitting on the teacher's desk ready to call each one up to receive a valentine. Everyone wants and needs to be loved and what better way than with a loving or funky valentine. My first valentine this year was a beautiful jar of local honey. He brought his lady in some and decided I needed a little sweetener too; another son, um. . . can't have to many of those. I sent him home with some cookies. If there was a contest I'm not sure who would get the title cookie monster as both he and Pat are cookie lovers. I tried an old recipe for a Grandma cookie which was a favorite of mine when I was little. It is a large round cookie with thin edges and a cake like center but , although they turned out okay, they were not what I expected. But a cookie is a cookie and one never tires of having one or two with a cup of coffee or tea. Milk dunking is okay too. So get busy and bake some valentine cookies and decorate them with those tiny candy hearts. Have fun and share YOU with those you love and like. Lighten up the room when you walk in with smiling eyes and open arms and make today every bit as special as YOU. Hugs to all. |
