If this is the case, then you must be retired like me. After years of getting up , getting dressed, making the bed . . . the world would end if the bed was left unmade, and, in my day having to wear girdles, slips, nylons and all that good stuff to go out the door to work. Adding a bit of lipstick, grabbing a cup of coffee with a donut was a daily routine. Staying home and having babies who loved to wake up by five a.m. didn't change the routine much as you hung diapers on the line by six a.m. There was no such thing as not getting dressed. Then after years of this daily habit, retirement comes along and it takes quite awhile to change habits, good or bad, and you finally get the bright idea you really do not have to get dressed until you are good and ready. If you have a date for the day and are going out then that is another matter. But, if you are staying in . . ah, lounging is good, watching the news on television, feet up, coffee in hand and a chance to relax and think about what you want to accomplish for the day inside or outside of your domain. Having a friend with likewise habits cannot be all bad, in fact it would make for 'good' neighbors. I have one just like that . . . how lucky is that!
So today, the start of you new week, if you are still following the get up and get dressed and made up for the day routine, smile as one of these days you will join the retirement group and find out what comfort is all about. Freedom inside and out. And, as much as I enjoy Maxine and her whimsical words, I have to disagree in this case as I think each and everyone is so much more beautiful inside and out when makeup is left behind. Look in the mirror and you will find a beauty you forgot you had. Smile with your eyes and see what happens to your face. And, if you are still working, know that weekends are for practicing how to lolly-gag around the house; try it, you will find you like it. Hugs to all. |
