Daughter Patricia has a palm tree similar to this near her driveway but I have never seen any blooms like this on it. I wonder if we ever will. How lovely, reminds me of the hula dancers.
I spent more than an hour on line this morning doing my blog. I had a couple of political cartoons about Obama Care which seems to be in trouble. The parts they are trying to put into effect are creating more problems than can be smoothed over and the consensus seems to be 'change the law' don't do it the right way, just change it to suit the needs. . . um. . . some new kinds of folks leading our parade.
My main intent was to share a wonderful granola recipe with you. Patricia came back from New Mexico with a recipe that puts new meaning into granola. I like granola but it was not the top cereal on my list, m more of a grape nut eater or raisin brand flakes. I had tried granola and it was okay but......I usually ignored it and went for old favorites. Well now, this granola is different, special, tasty, delicious and tops my list, so here goes . . .
Granola with nuts, cardamom and orange. 1/4 cup espalier processed canola oil 1/2 cup agave nectar (you can use honey) 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/2 teaspoon of salt (do not have to put in if you use salted pistachios) 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom 2 teaspoons ground coriander 3 cups old fashion oats 1 cup pistachios (raw if you can find them) 1 cup of raw cashews 1/2 cup flax seed (can use flax seed meal but need to refrigerate) 1/4 cup millet seed
1 teaspoon fresh orange zest (organic) 1 cup dried cranberries or cherries
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
1. Mix oil, agave, maple syrup, salt, cardamom, coriander, flax. 2. Add to oat and nut mixture . . . mix well . . . use hands. 3. Spread in thin layer and bake for twenty five minutes (25) 4. Stir and cook another fifteen minutes (15) 5. Remove and let cool , then add zest and cranberries. Store in airtight container at room temperature.
Bon Appetit!!!!
I am off to cool down and not touch the computer for at least five minutes. I hate it when my 'work' disappears for no reason whatsoever.....'ignore the error on page' . . . are they kidding . . . those computer geeks should have made it all fool proof....maybe someday.
Go make today, your special hump day, a good one. Make up some granola, believe me you will have a new special dish for breakfast and enjoy every bite. Hugs to all.
