The Oregon newsletter came in with this beautiful picture of the Oregon wine area. It looks like a likely spot to check out .
I don't know about you, but I get all mixed up when we have a holiday mid week. The Fourth was on Thursday so I have had three Mondays in a row all because the holiday felt like it was a Sunday. It has made for a very long week, not that I'm complaining, it is just a good thing we only have one Monday at a time, and one holiday at a time.
I have learned to play scrabble on the computer and have four games going. Son John has the upper hand with his bingo's but I keep striving for some good letters. The game has changed since I first learned how to play and the words allowed now come from 'cheat' sheets and very foreign to me. Some are not in the college dictionary but I'm told they are in the Scrabble dictionary on line. . . just seems very odd to me. BUT, it doesn't stop the will to play and I have only won one game out of five with John and he already has two bingo's on the game we are playing. . .wonder why they are called bingo's. Isn't that a different game all together? Lucky for me, I have won several games with others and more in tune with shorter words as we both seem to have letters that do not compute to more than four letters. It is fun and I enjoy it, and once I learn how to use the cheat sheet I should win a bingo or two . . . maybe!
I was off to a yard sale yesterday and found some material for the American Hero Quilts. One of the residents of Vachon Island, Washington started a quilter's group and they have made and donated 14,126 quilts so far. Over 100 quilts have been sent to Afghanistan. They have put out a call for material and would like patriotic colors for the top, backs and binding. If you have material and wish to send it on to them the address is: American Hero Quilt/6716 SW Maury Park Road/Vashon, WA. 98070. You can gather more information on line if you wish; Amheroquilt.com.
It just goes to show what wonderful people we have in our world. So check your sewing room and see what you have to share. If you don't sew then stop by one of the yardage shops and pick up a few pieces of red, white and blue and sent a package off via UPS or FEDX and make the ladies smile. I hope the ladies have storage space and it is filled up so they can keep busy sharing the warmth of a cover. Some are in hospitals recuperating, imagine a quilt hug . . . wow . . . makes one feel warm all over. And if you do quilt, then you can make one and send it on and be a part of this wonderful group. Be generous to a fault. Hugs to all.
