Old

The Sierras are old and the cloud formations above must have been something to see. Mike A. sent this picture along, taken from his ranch in Gardnerville yesterday.    Rolling thunder would be a good caption. It looks like the eagle has taken flight.   Thanks Mike it is a awesome and beautiful.

Yes, I got a cartoon attachment yesterday and it was all about getting older. . . and we are all getting older...a good thing we know how to laugh at ourselves.   Some one once said something about bird turd being good luck if it should land on you....um.....maybe I'll stand on my porch today and see if those nesting birds will grace me with some luck.

The young lady on the left is Jennifer Stone and she is celebrating a birthday.   Happy Birthday Jenny.   She looks so much like her mom who was my fist baby.   Joan Elizabeth was only a month old when I married into the Sullivan clan and was lucky to have my sister-in-law Eileen share her newborn.    It was a new and wonderful experience and Joan and I did a lot of firsts together.   Years later I visited Joan and her family in Tennessee and got to meet her children and this young lady was just a toddler.   She was a beautiful baby  . . . but oh look at her now....wow....

Like the child of olden days, he may not get as far as the corner then turn around and know there is no place like home.

Now that is forgetfulness...ha,  ha.   a cool breeze will remind him.

All by myself I get lonely, All by myself today and for a week or two as Patricia is wending her way up to Port Orchard  to join Christine and Erin.    They should have a great visit and it gives Patricia time to enjoy Erin before she leaves.   La Verne, my neighbor, came in yesterday with a huge frame she is working on.  She bought a small frame at a yard sale, added a couple of strips of wood around it and has come up with a beautiful frame for her bathroom mirror,.   One section has a silver look and the patina seems ancient.  She is going to try cleaning it more but I think it looks great as is.    Some things are better left alone.   Not mine to do but .  It is wonderful that each of us has ideas of our own and contribute so much to our surroundings.    It is what makes our own special haven.   Friend Marcia sent e-mails and will be over for a breakfast date on Thursday so I have something and some one to look forward to spending some time with.   Now if I could just talk the rest of you to drop in, I'd have it made.

What are you going to do with your Sunday?    We had a storm move in so I have a good old book to read.  I found an old favorite author, Thomas Costain, who was very popular back in the forties.   Remember "The Black Rose", "The Tontine" and "The Silver Chalice"?   This one is called "Below The Salt" and I had never read it.   It is never to late for a good read.

The Sunday political shows will be on soon and I think Bob Cheever does a good job interviewing.   There is a lot going on and we need to pay attention so we can find out which of the contenders has the courage of his convictions and will lead our nation back to work.  Oh, oh, politics and soap boxes . . . I'm off to make my breakfast and ham and eggs sounds good to me....reminds me of Sara Palin's little Dr. Seuss rhyme  which I thought was very clever and hit the nail on the head.    Jeez it is so easy to fall into politic rhetoric....I'm  smiling, hope you are.     Have a wonderful relaxing day doing what you do best.   Don't forget the good deed today;  the boy scouts are collecting canned goods for the food banks, and light a candle so we are not stumbling in the dark.    If you bump into me I'll be happy to walk into a hug.   Go . . . be YOU to day, and hopefully you remembered to set your clocks ahead.  Hugs to all.
