Shadows

Soju is reported to be the latest and best drink in the entire world.  Wonder if it is like Saki.

Angie sent this picture on Facebook.  She woke up to find her car hidden in a blanket of snow.   I wonder if she stayed home or did she go out and shovel off the snow and go to work?   I think I would have gone back to bed and let the sunshine come out and help unload that stormy surprise.   Yes, winter is here in the Truckee region and it is only a beginning.  The skiers are in their glory and I'll bet they are making their way up into the Sierras for some fun.

How cute are these.

Daughter Patricia sent this on to me this morning saying she thought of me when she saw it.   I wish I had seen it when I was looking for something for the cover sheet of my novel "Decades" . . . It is a truism as most of us octogenarians feel like this about our 'decades' . . . we really are "collected works" .   Read my stories and you will find that out.

This would have been a good cover picture for my novel "Shadows of Life" . . . It made me think that sometimes when we have shadows in our life, they take off and fly away after we deal with them.   So if you have shadows in your life today, walk out in the sunshine and see if you can make your shadow disappear.

Here it is Sunday and I have been a whole month here in Port Orchard.   The weather turned snowy and wet and freezing cold along the pathways to home so we had to postpone my return for a few more days.  I think my daughter Christine deserves a medal for sharing her time and energy with me for all these weeks, and I deserve one right along with her as I've been on my best behavior and you know how hard that is for me.  Christine is looking at the weather map and tells me that there is a blue line showing extremely icy cold wet due in for the next few days from Brookings to Coos Bay where we to meet with Patricia and Erin and exchange all my bundles and me....oh well, let the fun continue as I am having a great time.  The house is still standing and Patricia is watching over it.  The mail has slowed down to catalogs.    Have you ever seen so many catalogs in your whole life.   The  big stores must think everyone is working and has money to pay absorbent prices for all those foreign imports.

I have to tell you about our ride to Gig Harbor yesterday.  The sun was shining and the road clear and off we went in a different direction, east, I think Christine said.    The roads were more rural and the traffic lighter.   Christine's friend Pam told us of a restaurant to have brunch and we headed for there first.  The soup of the day was a fish chowder and if I had known how delicious it was, I would have ordered a bowl of it.   I had a cup of the sea food bisque as I called it, as it was much to delicious to be called anything else.  A half real turkey sandwich and I'm glad I didn't pass that up as the mayonnaise had a bit of hot sauce in it and spiced the sandwich up, try it, you'll love it.   We went on to a special drug store that Pam told us not to miss and how right she was.  A huge store that had everything you could think of it it.   It was all done up for Christmas and its open house and Christine finished her Christmas shopping in one stop.   So if you are planning a trip to Washington state, put Gig Harbor on your list.

Enjoy your seconds today and do what you do best . . . love one another;   give those bear hugs out freely and for heavens sake . . . smile with your eyes.   Brighten up your world and save the 'sniffles' for another time.    Today is a 'be good to myself'' day, just because.    Hugs to all.
