Special

I lost my notes.  I wish I could tell you the plants and flowers name.  I remember that they built a tower of dirt held within a metal form and seeds are planted and the care begins.

Such color and perfection.

A lot of work and love go into each one of these creations.

No garden should be without butterflies.

How clever is this?     A crusade all its own.

Oh no, a creepy crawler.

This one took a lot of thought.

I received a special attachment yesterday with the above pictures and even more, some International Competition that is held every year .  It is a labor of love.    Imagine the work that goes into growing these plants and flowers.   The engineering feat, the knowledge and the love that goes into the finished product.  Wouldn't it be something to be able to stroll through the area and see all of these first hand.   I marvel at the creativity and love of nature that survives and gives us such pleasure.

The weather has taken a turn for the worst so no driving ten hour home.  I may be here a few more days or another week, but  that is fine as Christine and I are having a lot of fun and we are doing some work as well.    She is doing real work while I am doing some history work.   It is an endless task and I am not getting a lot done as it is like being buried in a sea of paper.   I am on a hunt for the Log Cabin history and some pictures which are going to be written up for a special project as this is the one hundred year celebration...they think....not sure.....1914 has been bandied about.   Over the years the ladies have come up with a mannequin family and each writer has done a theme on Christmas.    The writing and the imagination has been well done.   The committee is busy trying to come up with new ideas for the celebration,  but not an easy task.

We all know that one.    some tasks are so much harder to fulfill than others.    When it comes to paper and hunting it is a tedious job, but once the facts are found and the writing done, it is a 'piece of cake'.    Speaking of cake, granddaughter Erin got busy and made her aunt a birthday cake.  Now they can't get on the road for a few days or a week, she and her mother are busy slicing off a piece here and there.   Wonder if they thought to freeze a piece for me.    I hope so.

I hear it was nine degrees up in the high Sierras.  Son Michael is probably chipping ice so the horses can have a drink of water.    Son John is telling of a change of  weather back in Delaware.   It looks like we are heading for a very cold winter.    Time to take a look at weather striping around the doors and windows.   Time to check the furnace and make sure it is all set for the real winter weather.  Indian summer has come and gone and you know what the next few months will entail.   Be sure you are cozy and warm and if you have a fire place, use it, some folks do not and that seems so wasteful to me.  There is nothing better than a roaring fire not only for the heat it gives off but the beauty of the flames themselves.    Pop some corn;    bake some cookies;   get in the mood for the upcoming Christmas holiday and don't forget it is Merry Christmas , and don't forget to watch the Hallmark Christmas stories, they've been on all month and are fun to watch as the good guy always wins.   Be a good guy and don't forget the smile comes from within and shines through your eyes and those arms are meant to embrace . . . I got two hugs last night when introduced to one of Christine's friends....felt really good.    So go, make someone feel really good.  Hugs to all. .
